Launching in Yorkshire and expanding 4iP’s online homes

Tonight in Sheffield Yorkshire and Humber indies will celebrate the official launch of 4iP there, with Lucy Würstlin, new Digital Commissioner for 4iP at the helm with partners in Yorkshire Screen and Yorkshire Forward. But, as 4iP expands, so do the localised online networks and our discussions around the future of public service media.

Each of the areas where 4iP is developing through significant partner funding, particularly in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Yorkshire and the West Midlands, has plenty in common, of course, but also completely different patterns of expertise, experience, expectations, backgrounds and interests in the digital media space. 38minutes in Scotland and Northern Ireland was set up for the specific shared issues in these two areas. We’ve even set up a small nascent network, Digital Dockyard, in the North East for some different challenges and opportunities we face there.

So, if you have business in other parts of the country, or just want to see what’s going on at the grassroots of a particular nation or region, then you’d do a lot worse than popping over or signing up to the family of social spaces online that have sprouted around helping move public service media into new spaces online, in mobile and gaming. Usual rules of engagement apply:

News and events around new media and 4iP:

The main 4iP site for unmissable news and for submitting ideas
The 4iP YouTube site
All stories from nation and region communities via 4iP Twitter
4iP’s latest pics on Flickr
Events we feel people interested in 4iP might like on Upcoming.org

Your nation or region:

Scotland and Northern Ireland‘s 38minutes
The North East‘s Digital Dockyard
Yorkshire and Humber‘s Whippet on the Wire
The West MidlandsWho Needs The Sea?

Yorkshire is the new capital of UK music. Since then the infrastructure and expertise necessary to support this volume of new talent, has moved up from London or been created by local entrepreneurial enterprises.

I’ve always thought that London was the capital of UK music. Anyway, I’m glad to know that 4ip is expanding all the way to Yorkshire. You should consider expanding towards Asia. I’m sure there’s a lot of market there.

How do I find foreclosed homes online without having to pay the hidden fees?

I don’t think there’s a list, per se, but you can check out the site below, which gives you a list of authors whose work is part of the public domain. I don’t know how complete the list is, though. The general rule of thumb, I believe, is that if the work is published after January 1, 1978, the work is under copyright with the author for the life of the author and 70 years after the author’s death. The specifics and general rules are listed with the U.S. Copyright office.

How To Convert AVI to DVD: Find Video Converter Software
Get DVD conversion software that works for you. None of it is perfect. Some AVI to DVD conversion programs might be intuitive and easy for you, but someone else may hate them and vice versa. The best way to find the right DVD conversion software is to download several evaluation copies, try them, and then buy the one that works best for you. One fantastic program is Convert Genius; through http://www.convert-avi-to-dvd.org. This program is excellent because it allows you to work with multiple formats, not just AVI.
